About Me:

My name is Chase Honaker, and I’m a data professional with a wide range of skills spanning the entirety of the data process from collection, manipulation, and cleaning to analysis, modeling, and visualization. I am comfortable in roles as a data engineer, scientist, and analyst. With a background in applied mathematics (B.S. - UCLA - cognitive science minor), I excel in statistical analysis and predictive modeling. During my time at UCLA, I had the privilege of playing collegiate water polo, an experience that strengthened my communication, teamwork, strategic thinking, and composure in high-pressure environments—qualities I bring to my data work.

I also hold a master’s degree in Transformative Coaching and Leadership from UCLA which makes me an effective leader and team player regardless of my stated role. I am also finishing a Sports Data Analytics graduate certificate from Syracuse University to further hone my data skills.

My technical skills include advanced proficiency in the following: Excel and Microsoft Office, SQL, R, Python, and Tableau. I also have proficiency in Microsoft Power BI and QGIS.

I have always thrived in problem identification and solving which is part of what draws me to data analytics. See my HeatCheck project in the blog page for a real-world example of identifying problems and solving them through data.

On my own time, I love water polo, the outdoors, piano/music, and countless other things fueled by my active curiosity. That same curiosity drives me to the world of data where there are always new things to learn.

About the Website:

On my website you will find three different pages. The about page which you are on now, the blog/projects page, and the short examples page.

The blog/projects page houses my more in depth projects which include a blog-style write up of my thoughts, code, and overall process. The summaries of each post there include a description of the main concepts or tools used in the project.

The short examples page includes standalone dashboards, code chunks, or other similar content. These normally have much less explanation and are just meant to serve as more examples of my work.
